Obituary

A retired Millwright Helper at International Multifoods Corp., passed away at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 94.

An Army veteran of Word War II, Al served as a Tec-4 with the Company B 355th Engineer Regiment and earned the Army of Occupation Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal while serving.

Al was also a member of the 4th degree St. Maximilian Kolbe Assembly Knights of Columbus and Fr. Justin Council 5670 Knights of Columbus and Life Member of the former SS. Peter & Paul Athletic Club, Inc.

He chose the date of July 15, 2020, to reunite with his soulmate and love of his life, his beloved wife Lorraine "Lorri" (nee Gorney) Staskiewicz.

Al left behind his devoted daughter Karen (Greg) Mazikowski and was the loving grandfather of Lauren (William) Gritsavage.

He was also survived by his nieces and nephews, Diane (Jim) Ray, Anne Marie (Joe) Wilson, Mark (Aime) Graczyk, Kathy Graczyk, Kim (Chris) Shores, Richie (Janice) Czajka and Camille Czajka and was predeceased by his fur-friends Buddy, Coco, and Jazzy.

The dearest son of the late Mary (nee Krupa) Staskiewicz and late Leo Staskiewicz and the dearest brother of the late Richard (late Dorothy) Staskiewicz and late Arlene (late Richard) Czajka.

The family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday from 3-7 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem).

Due to prevailing circumstances, if you do not feel comfortable in attending please give a "toast" to Al in your home.

A private Funeral Mass will be held by the family. Face Coverings and Social Distancing will be required at all times during Mr. Staskiewicz's services. Current capacity restrictions may cause delayed entry. Thank you for your understanding.

The family would like to acknowledge special thanks to the staff at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care Al had received.
