IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anastasia “Nellie”
Szymanski
March 7, 1925 – December 4, 2017
The former Anastasia Kajdas, passed away peacefully at Buffalo Mercy Hospital, at the age of 92 with her family at her side.
A retired counter clerk, she worked for several years, at Hyzy's Bakery, on Clinton Street,
in the Kaisertown area of East Buffalo.
Being a tremendous Cook and Baker herself, Anastasia more endearingly known as "Nellie" to her friends, enjoyed her retirement, cooking up a storm of her special recipes for all her relatives and friends. She also enjoyed the view from her porch, at the front of her home on South Ogden St, where she was able to keep in touch with all the passing neighbors and passing on her love of knitting and crocheting with many by making them her signature "booties."
She was a warm and loving person and made many friends, in her most recent stay at Absolut of Aurora Health Care Facility, in East Aurora, New York.
Nellie was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Szymanski, Sr. and devoted mother of Patricia (Jack) Emmi, Mary Lou (Gary) Krajnik and the late Leonard Szymanski, Jr.
The cherished grandmother of Christopher Krajnik, Steven Krajnik, Katie Krajnik, Jacquie Krajnik and Michael Szymanski.
Anastasia was the daughter of the late Mary (nee Klimeczko) and late Joseph Kajdas and was a loving sister of Sophie (late Richard) Vanderlip, Mary (late Henry) Talowski, late Joseph (late Patricia) Kajdas and the late Anna (late Stanley Makson) Netzel, as well several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will be present on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William Street (near Harlem) where a prayer service will be held on Friday morning at 9:30 AM and at St. Bernard Church, located at Clinton and South Ogden Sts,. at 10 AM.
