Bernard E. Ziemba, on the wings of an eagle, peacefully entered into heaven, with his wife and daughters at his side, on June 2, 2017.
He retired from the Buffalo Fire Department as a Lieutenant and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, as a Sergeant, during the Korean War and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 1 Star, as well as, the United Nations Service Medal.
Bernard is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years the former Dolores (nee Zacarchuk) Ziemba.
The loving father of Barbara (Paul Kuzemsky) Ziemba, Janice Ziemba, Diane Parker and Darlene (Jack Marzolf) Ziemba.
Fond grandfather of Anastasia (Lee) Rynearson, Leanne (RJ) Tamburri, Jacqueline, Susan and Amelia Lorenz, Ryan (Brittany Karas) Parker, Scott Parker, Bernard Marzolf, Steven and great grandfather of AJ, Adrienne and Chase.
He was predeceased by his parents the late Rozalia (nee Maguda) and late Jozef Ziemba and the dearest brother of the late Edward (late Henrietta) Ziemba, late John (late Valerie) Ziemba, late Anthony Ziemba, late Sophie (late Henry) Pyrz, late Henry (late Josephine) Ziemba, late Josephine (late John) Szvoren, late Stanley (late Patricia) Ziemba and the late Carl (Louise) Ziemba and also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will be present on Sunday from 4-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem) where services will be held on Monday morning at 10:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Church, located at 130 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, NY 14227 at 11:30 AM.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Matthew's Cemetery, in West Seneca, New York
