Kawalek
December 8, 1927 – October 16, 2024
Casimer Kawalek was the first son born on Thursday, December 8, 1927 to Marya (nee Wiacek) and Jan Kawalek in Mosciskach, Poland. He had 3 older sisters and 2 younger brothers. Casimer was the last of the Polish Army Veterans who served in WWII arriving from Siberian (USSR) internment traveling through Uzbekistan, Iran. Joined the Polish forces under British command in Tanzania and served in Egypt, Italy and UK and eventually in the USA becoming Sgt. Major of the New York Guard for 17 years.
Casimer was the beloved husband of the late Cecylia (nee Perlak).
Devoted father of Irene Judy, Cass Hirschey, Ted (Lori) Kawalek, Mary (Paul) Wroblewski, Joseph (Adriana) Kawalek, Edward (Stacey) Kawalek, Paul (Susan) Kawalek and Lisa Kawalek.
Loving grandfather of Brandon (Kelsey) Wroblewski, Aleda Kawalek, Adrien Kawalek, Matthew Kawalek, Nina (Miguel) Chitty, Sofia Kawalek, Celine (Ben) Kawalek, Kyle (Katie) Kawalek and Alexa Kawalek. Fond great-grandfather of Barrett and Bowen.
He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins stateside and in Poland.
Family will be present Monday, October 21st on 10 AM to Noon at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St., near Harlem Road, where a service will take place at Noon.
Burial will follow with Military Honors at the Polish Veterans Plot, in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga, New York.
