December 11, 1946 – September 5, 2021
A retired Mechanic and Truck Driver for Riefler Concrete, in Hamburg, New York, and at Wayne Concrete, in Springville, New York, Dennis R. Cobo passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the age of 74.
Dennis served as a Lance Corporal in the US Marines during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal. A Volunteer Fire Firefighter for over 42 years with the Springville Fire Department where he served as the Truck Captain of Truck #1 for over 30 years in addition to serving on several other fire department committees including the truck committee, building committee, property & grounds committee, as well as his many other responsibilities at the fire hall. Dennis loved listening to country music, enjoyed playing horseshoes, was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dennis was predeceased by his soulmate, love of his life, and beloved wife of 48 years, the late Patricia L. Cobo (nee Krieck). They were married on June 9th, 1973, in Dunellen, New Jersey.
He was the devoted father of Dennis "DJ" (Stacy) Cobo, Jr., Sarah (John) Meyers, and Brian (Carol) Cobo.
A fond grandfather of Meghan Cobo, Caleb Meyers, Elizabeth Meyers, Emily Meyers, Joshua Meyers, Samual (Asia) Meyers, Johanna (Keon) Glenn, Nathaniel Meyers, and Katelyn (John) Gorham.
The proud great-grandfather of Kyonna, Keon, JT, and Gabriel.
Born in Gowanda, New York, the cherished son of late Rosemond (nee Webster) and late Harold Cobo and was the loving brother of Linda Tucker and brother-in-law of Ann (Paul) Carron, Marty (Claire) Krieck, and late Barbara (Peter) Demchak.
He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends at the Springville Fire Department.
The family will be present to receive family and friends on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 4-7 PM at the SMITH-WEISMANTEL FUNERAL HOME, 271 East Main St. Springville, New York.
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble at Springville First United Methodist Church, located at 474 E. Main Street, Springville, New York 14141 where funeral services will take place Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 10 AM.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Springville Fire Department, 405 W. Main Street, Springville, New York 14141
