June 28, 1933 – November 22, 2017
A former Sergeant in the Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War, Edward Anthony Blach, passed away under Hospice Care, at the Buffalo Veterans Administration Medical Center, at the age of 84.
He was a member and holder of several offices, in the St. Josaphat Holy Name, District 8 Holy Name and Diocesan Holy Name Societies, a former President of Diocesan Council of Catholic Men, member of the St. Maximillian Kolbe Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Fr. Justin Council #5670 and member of the VFW Adam Plewacki Post #799.
Edward worked as a Bricklayer at Bethlehem Steel, in Lackawanna, NY for over 30 years and assisted many local contractors in home building projects. After his retirement, it allowed him more time to keep active in the Holy Name Society, as well as enjoying his passions for Hunting, Fishing, Golf, the Bills and serving as the best "Easy Chair Coach" the Sabres ever had.
He was the beloved husband of Dolores "Dollie" (nee Laboch) Blach and devoted father of Peter (Elizabeth DiTondo) Blach and Cynthia (Roger) Hagmier.
A loving grandfather of Nicole Blach and Jessica Blach and dearest brother of Joelle (Roger) Bellehumer, Dr. Dennis (Marcia) Przybyla, James (Karen) Przybyla and Judy Welsh. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Family will be present for visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem.)
Relatives and friends are all invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josaphat Parish (William at Peoria Ave.) on Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM.
Inurnment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Cheektowaga, New York, will take place privately, at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined.
