Obituary

Passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Erie County Medical Center after a brief illness.

He enjoyed life for 85 yrs. Born in Buffalo on March 21, 1929; is predeceased by his parents the late Sophia and Walter Lewandowski, brother of the late Bernice (late Joe) Sydlowski, late Stephen (late Bertha) Lewandowski, late Helen Mikler, late Harry (late Gert) Lewandowski, late Jean Prucinski, late Walter (late Florence) Lewandowski, late Vera Maciejewski. Ed graduated from Burguard High School. He was a Freshwater Seaman with the Merchant Marines, affiliated with the Coast Guard, where he had Engineering opportunities.


He married Mary Lawniczak on May 12, 1951. His beloved wife of 59 yrs. preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters: Linda Lewandowski, OSF of Stella Niagara, Nancy A. (Gary) Noreck of Lancaster and Mary Jane Lewandowski of Sunset Bay, and the loving grandfather of Garrett and Lyndsey Noreck. Brother-in-law of the late Celia (late Stanley) Lawn, late Irene (late Louis) Kulavick, late Frank (late Dorothy) Cieslak, John Ratka, late Josephine (late William) Monroe, Michael (Rose Marie) Cieslak, Stanley (Lorraine) Cieslak, Pearl (Arthur) Lariviere, Edward (Dorothy) Cieslak and Ann (Robert) Betlewicz and also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Family will be present on Tuesday, from 2 - 7 PM at the Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William (near Harlem Rd.) with a prayer service at 6:30 pm.

Family and Friends are invited to meet at St. Anthony RC Church, 417 Commercial St. Farnham, NY, on Wednesday at 10 am for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will take place at St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca NY.

Edward was a laborer, craftsman, proprietor and businessman. He enjoyed bowling and participated on many leagues. He was a hunter, fisherman and enjoyed boating. In the summertime he enjoyed gardening and mowing lawns. In the winter he shoveled and did snow blowing. He enjoyed music, bands and dancing. He was a member of the Charlie Club and AMVETS Post 6472, where he served on the Board. He was a social member of the Eagle's Club and several VFW Post. He was active in the Sunset Bay Community and volunteered.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Francis Center, 108 West Mill Street, McArthur, Ohio 45651 where he completed many years of service and construction projects.
