Obituary

A Pillar in the Bowling Community, Elaine was a tireless worker who dedicated her life to bowling. Elaine worked at Broadway Sports Center (formerly King Pin Recreation Centers) since 1977, where she was the program director, youth director, manager and Lead Coordinator. Elaine continued to work at at Broadway Sports Center as an employee until her death.

Before the formation of the Greater Buffalo USBC Association, Elaine was a board member of the Erie County Women's Bowling Association (ECSWBA). She was elected president in 1989 and held many titles in various local, state, and national associations and clubs over several decades.

Elaine was inducted into the Erie County Women's Bowling Association/Greater Buffalo USBC Association Hall of Fame in 1996. An integral member of Greater Buffalo USBC Association Board of Directors since the association's inception in 2005 and served as vice president for the last several years.

Elaine was a Buffalo Area Bowling Council member, a lecturer at Erie Community College's Bowling Management program, and a certified American Junior Bowling Congress instructor-coach. She was appointed to multiple association committees, including the Youth Committee, Scholarship Committee, Budget & Finance Committee, Hall of Fame Committee, Senior Women's Tournament Committee, and Western New York Queens Committee.

As a member of the Bowling Proprietor's Association of Western New York, Elaine held several titles and helped coordinate the annual golf outing, a youth scholarship fundraising event held each summer. She was a member of the New York State Women's 200 and 600 Clubs and was a past president and member emeritus of the 600 Club.

Elaine was a delegate at many annual conventions of the New York State and USBC national associations and was a great ambassador for our sport.

Elaine A. was born on Tuesday, April 23, 1940 in Buffalo, NY to Marie H. (nee Wojciechowski) and William F. Chlebowski.

Elaine was the beloved wife of late Robert for over 60 years.

Devoted mother of Jackie (late Edward J. Sandel - Kevin Degnan) Sandel, Debbie (Kevin) Pilley and the late Tim Koszuta.

Loving grandmother of Timothy (Jamie) Sandel, Kaylee Sandel, Brandon (Alexis) Sandel, Dylan (Sabrina Privitera) Pilley, Austin Pilley and Brianna (Kevin Bethege) Pilley. Fond great-grandmother of Jonathan and Aurora Sandel and the late Bailey and late Paisley.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family will be present on Monday, October 7th from 3-6 PM at PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St., near Harlem Rd.

Relative and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 950 Losson Rd on Tuesday morning at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Greater Buffalo USBC Association .
