Eugene was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War,  Electrical Engineer for Occidental Chemical and a former teacher at Seneca Vocational High School. He passed away at Buffalo Mercy Hospital, at the age of 85.

He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (nee Tucker) Gawel.

The devoted father of Kenneth (Diane) Gawel, Kevin (Donna) Gawel, Peter Gawel and loving grandfather of Nicole Gawel.

He was the dearest uncle of Martin Gawel.

Family will be present on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem) where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 8:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Bernard Church (1990 Clinton Street, Buffalo, NY 14206) at 9 AM.

Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Cheektowaga, New York.
