Pokornowski
June 22, 1940 – May 4, 2018
A Co-Owner of Porky's Amber Lounge, on Clinton St, since 1969, with his late brother Ray, in the Kaisertown section of Buffalo, Eugene Ronald Pokornowski, passed away after a brief stay at Buffalo Mercy Hospital at the age of 77. He was also the founder and treasurer of Porky's Social Athletic Club and co-owned Porkonowski's Stables with his Partner Brother Raymond Pokornowski till 1991 and then Norm Kozakiewicz from 2000 - 2008 and entered many a colt and filly at the Buffalo Raceway and Batavia Downs Raceway and he continued racing horses until about 10 years ago. He was also a member of the Western New York Harness Horsemen's Association,
Eugene was a Super Grandpa, as note by his grandchildren, always there to provide personalized Taxi (Uber) service to all the grandchildren, to and from School. He also enjoyed taking the grandchildren to the Waterfront, the Park
and
different sporting events, always finding out from Grandpa that he, at one time, was the best at all the sports that they went to watch. He also enjoyed participating in and was the greatest at, the Buffalo Area Intra-Bar leagues in Pool and Shuffle Board.
The beloved husband of 57 years to Frances E. (nee Ramsey) Pokornowski and devoted father of Lynn (Phil) Sokolik, Allison (Mark) Winkowski, James (Lisa) Pokornowski and Scott (Tina) Pokornowski.
He was the loving grandfather of Craig Pokornowski, Ryan Winkowski, George Pierce, Steven Sokolik, Philip Sokolik, Tyler Winkowski, Rachel Pokornowski, Katie Pokornowski, Tommie Pokornowski, and Daniel Pokornowski and great-grandfather of Nathan, Natalie, Melanie and Benjamin;
A devoted Son of the late Lottie (nee
Bartozek
) and late Felix Pokornowski
The dearest brother of Leonard (Sue) Pokornowski and the late Alfred (late Rose) Pokornowski, late Helen (late Raymond) Drabik, late Raymond (Sally) Pokornowski and late Phyllis Pokornowski and
was
also survived by several nieces, nephews
and
cousins.
The family will be present to greet family and friends on Monday from 4 - 8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem).
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Fourteen Holy Helpers Church, located at 1345 Indian Church Rd. (at Union Road) on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Please assemble at the Church.
Flowers are gratefully declined.
