Chmurzynski
May 4, 1923 – April 9, 2019
A World War II Army Veteran and retired Mail Carrier for the US Post Office, Florian T. Chmurzynski, passed away at the age of 95.
While in the service Florian received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, an American Theater Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was also a Life Member of the VFW Pvt. Leonard Post, Jr. Post # 6251, American Legion Post 721, the DAV and was also a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch #3.
Florian, who was better known as "Shoes" by his family and friends, was the beloved husband of the late Charlotte (nee Howard) Chmurzynski and devoted father of Kathleen (Richard) Grupka and John (Beth) Chmurzynski.
The dearest grandfather of Aaron (Jacquelyn) Grupka, Abagael (Joshua) Haeick, Adam (Julia) Grupka, April (Alex) Brown and Alex (Carolyn) Chmurzynski and loving great-grandfather of Ethan, Isla Mae, Adelyn, Theo, Evelyn, Greyson, Emmett, Adam Jr., Eleanor, Gwen and Jackson.
The cherished son of the late Angeline (nee Zdyb) and late John Chmurzynski, Shoes was also predeceased by his sisters and brothers, the late Louise (late Stanley) Oczowinski, late John Chmurzynski, late Stanley Chmurzynski, late Jennie Chmurzynski, late Edward (late Gloria) Chmurzynski, late Helen (late Florian) Jegierski, late Josephine (late Leonard) Kaczmarski, late Ted (late Mary Ann Chmurzynski, and the late Chester (Sylvia) Chmurzynski and also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will be present for visitation on Thursday afternoon from 3-7 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem).
Relatives and friends are also invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, located at 2158 Clinton Street, in Cheektowaga, New York 14206 on Friday at 9:30 AM.
