Obituary

At the age of 82, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Frank was a student, soldier, and active Buffalonian.  He attended Bishop Ryan High School, and graduated Canisius College, '54. He served his country in the US Army Military Police, from 1954-56 in Panama. After completing additional studies at the University of Buffalo and University of Michigan, he returned to his Alma Mater , and received his Masters degree in Education from Canisius '63.

Throughout his life, Frank served on numerous boards and was active in many parishes and cultural organizations. He was a lifetime member of the SS Peter and Paul Athletic Club, Inc.

After jobs with Westinghouse and Sperry Rand, Frank taught at Buffalo Public Schools #34, #4 and Southside Jr. High. He served as Assistant Principal at Schools #79 and West Hertel Middle School, before becoming Principal of School #44, now know as Lincoln Academy. In that role, from 1972-90, he touched many lives and built programs and facilities that enriched the community he served.

An accomplished woodworker, he made and refinished furniture for his family, friends and several Catholic Churchs, in the Diocese. He even built his own canoe. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and following his local sports teams.

Frank also made wine, enjoyed played cards and traveled. He did all of these things with his friends, because he enjoyed nothing more than the fun and fellowship of others.


He was the beloved husband of Irene (nee Sicienski) Benbenek for 57 years.  A devoted father of Mary Williamson, John (Mimi) Benbenek, Lawrence (Debra) Benbenek and Vincent (Vesna) Benbenek and Loving grandfather of Nathan, Rachel, Andrew, Caroline, Julia, Brian, Ashley, Austin, Ariana, Eli and Alexander.

A father figure to many, notabley Peter May. The dearest brother of Rita (late Richard) Szpara, Patricia (Daniel) Zukowski, Bernadette (Joseph) Sacilowski, Sister Mary Jacqueline, CSSF and the late John "Buddy" Benbenek.  Also a faithful, fun-loving friend to many, especially Eddie Dziedzic. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


The Family will gather for a Celebration of Frank's Life on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem).

Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip The Apostle Church, located at 950 Losson Road, Cheektowaga, NY 14227, on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:30 AM.
