Smigiel, Jr
March 9, 1940 – June 20, 2021
A retired Meat Processor with over 22 years of service at Sahlen's Meats, Frank J. Smigiel, Jr., passed away at 81.
He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with the 6th Howitzer Battalion, in the 16 Artillery, of the Fourth US Army, in Korea and was also an active member of the Capt. Charles Schunstrom, Amvets Post 72, in West Seneca, New York.
Frank a Semi-Pro Bowler and member of the American Bowling Congress, competed in several tournaments throughout the Western New York area. He also enjoyed going to the Bisons Baseball games and would never miss a game on TV, if the Bills, Sabers, or Bisons would be playing. But his favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with his children, grandchildren and being able to visit area amusement parks, riding the roller coasters.
Frank, in September of 2021, would have been married 46 years, to his best friend and the love of his life, his beloved wife, Mary (nee Szywala) Smigiel.
A devoted father of Mary (Sean) Erickson, Sr., Joseph Frank (Tanya Amenta) Smigiel, Cindy Smigiel, Donna Smigiel, and the late Linda Marie Smigiel.
The loving grandfather of Sean Jr. (Fiancée-Natasha Rodriguez) Erickson, Jaryd Erickson, Devlyn Erickson, and fond great-grandfather of Jack Erickson.
He was the cherished son of the late Evelyn (nee Ast) Smigiel and the late Frank Smigiel, Sr. and the dearest brother of Marilyn (George) Schrader, late Donald (late Diane) Smigiel, late Joyce (Jim) Rydzy, and also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Services will be held privately by his family.
