Szafranski, Sr.
September 16, 1950 – February 6, 2020
A retired Sheet Metal Mechanic with over 32 years of service at General Mills, in Buffalo, New York, Frederick R. Szafranski, Sr., passed away at Hospice Buffalo, Inc., in Cheektowaga, New York, at the age of 69.
A longtime resident of Depew and Cheektowaga, Fred served as a Past President of the Depew Polish Falcons, as well as being an active member and supporter of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Polish Falcons Nest 6 and the former SS. Peter & Paul Athletic Club. He was also an avid Golfer and Bowler and enjoyed traveling with friends to places like Myrtle Beach, Aruba and Punta Conta, just to name a few. He will be most sadly missed by his family because he was a fantastic cook and known for his world-famous Omelets. Fred was also the best Arm Chair Coach the Yankees ever had.
Fred was the loving son of Emily (nee Witkowski) and late Richard J. Szafranski.
A best friend, soulmate and beloved husband of Cindy Lou (nee Stewart) Szafranski.
The loving father and stepfather of Paula (Jason) O'Connor, Pamela (Ken) DeMarzio, Frederick, Jr. (Amanda) Szafranski, Karyn (Derek) Raichel, Brian Szafranski, William (Windy) Meredith, Crystal Meredith and Lisa (Joseph) Buchnowski.
As well as the cherished Papa-Ski to 16, dear brother of Kathleen (Allen) Murphy and Joseph (Susan) Szafranski, brother-in-law of Sandra (Joseph) Shaver, Jean Krafchak and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem).
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Church, located at 130 Como Park Boulevard, at Union Road, in Cheektowaga, New York, 14227, on Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial's in Fred's name be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc. 225 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, New York 14227.
