A Maintenance Engineer at General Mills - Buffalo, NY, passed away peacefully, at St. Francis Home of Williamsville, NY, at the age of 78.

He was the son of the late Clara (Zakowicz) and Stanley Szalasny and beloved husband of late Veronica (Machajewski) Szalasny.

Gerald was the devoted father of John (Kathryn) Szalasny, Tom (Doreen) Szalasny, Diane (Richard) Puchala and Andrew (Lisa) Szalasny and loving grandfather of Jennifer Puchala, Anne Puchala, Sarah Szalasny and Michelle Szalasny.

He was predeceased by his dear brother, the late Donald (Joan) Szalasny and survived by nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William St. (near Harlem), on Friday evening (4/24/2015) from 6-8 PM, for a Celebration of Gerald's Life, where a service will be held at 7:30 PM.

Flowers are gratefully declined.

Inurnment will take place at St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca, NY, privately at a later date.
