J. Ulewski
March 28, 1941 – October 9, 2020
The "Greatest" father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, neighbor, leader, supervisor, and mentor, "Jake" Jacob Ulewski, passed away at Mercy Hospital, in Buffalo, New York, at the age of 79.
A Lieutenant, in the Buffalo Police Department, with over 42 years of service to the City of Buffalo on the Burglary Task Force and a member of the SWAT Team, Jake retired in 2007. While on the police force he also worked as an Electrician at Republic Steel for over 20 years holding down the 2 jobs to make ends meet, for several years.
He was an avid sportsman and hunter and taught several to improve their skill of marksmanship.
Also, a great cabinet maker and carpenter, he never said no to a friend or neighbor, to assist them however he could. His daughter Jennifer stated that her father excelled as a Chauffeur, always volunteering to drive her to and from the airport, for maybe a thousand times, over the last 35 years. He was a lover of Animals, Cars, Motorcycles, Trains, and many types of Antiques.
A son of the late Anna (nee Pustelnik) Ulewski and late Jacob J. Ulewski, Sr. and husband of Carol Ulewski.
Cherished father of Suzanne (Jerrold) Katrein and Jennifer (Jerome) Ulewski-Davis and loving grandfather of Sarah, Jessica, and Jerry Katrein and great-grandfather of Tyler, Hans, Jacob, and Branden.
He was also a dear and long-time friend of Joe (Joan) Biehunik.
The family will be present for visitation on Monday from 3-7 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem).
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Church, located at 306 Ingham Ave, in Lackawanna, New York 14218 on Tuesday at 11 AM. (Please assemble at the Church)
Private Burial services will be held at St. Adalbert Cemetery, in Lancaster, New York at a later time.
Face coverings and social distancing will be required at all times during Jake's services. Current capacity restrictions may cause delayed entry. Thank you for your understanding.
