As a former Pre-K teacher at St. John's School in Buffalo, Joan touched the lives of many children with her gentle guidance and love for teaching.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Gerald Schwinn.
Devoted mother of Pamela (Bob Lipinoga) Wisniewski, Barbara (James) Sypniewski, late Karen (Tony) Majchrzak, and Brian (Kimberly) Schwinn.
Loving grandmother of James Wisniewski, late Jason Wisniewski, Corie Lipinoga, late Hillary Sypniewski, Nicholas (Amanda) Sypniewski, Nicole Majchrzak, Angela (Hassan) Mohamed, William (Dolly) Majchrzak, Jarod (Anna LeBrausser) Schwinn, Aleaha Schwinn, and Ethan Schwinn.
Fond great-grandmother of Xavier Mohamed, Mason Mohamed, Brielle Mohamed, Elliyana Castillo, Aleesa Ayer, Avaya Ayer, Evelyn Sypniewski, Adeline Sypniewski, Melina Majchrzak, Amelia Majchrzak, and Dylan Wisniewski.
Dearest sister of Marlene (Chuck) Brechtel, and the late Walter (Joan) Blum.
Her extended family includes many nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished her warm spirit and kind heart.
Family will be present Monday, February 9, 2026 from 4-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem.) Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew's Church (Crocker at Reiman Sts.) Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 9:30 AM.
Entombment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY.
