A retired Maintenance Engineer for over 20 years at M.J. Peterson Real Estate, of Amherst, New York, John "Janiu" Raczka, passed away after a short stay at Eastern Niagara Hospital, in Lewiston, New York, at the age of 75. He was a 6 year veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the 763rd Radar Squadron, during the Vietnam War. He was Past Commander, a Life Member and very active at the American Legion David McKeever Downtown Post #64, in South Buffalo, New York.
Growing up on the East Side, in the Broadway Market area, he was also active with his late wife Mary, who predeceased him in February of 2009, at their neighboring Corpus Christi Church. He and his family remained on the East Side, till they moved to their Lockport residence in the late 90's. It was then that he was able to do more Carpentry, Woodworking, and tinkering in his new garage. He also enjoyed driving his tractor, in the Spring managing the lawn and in the Winter taking care of the Lockport snowfalls, at his property.
"Janiu" was a devoted Husband and Father, who loved all of his family and life itself, always trying to make the world a better and safer place with everything he tried to do for his family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary C (nee Frame) Raczka and the devoted father of Gail Raczka, John A. Raczka, and Kim Raczka.
The dearest son of the late Helen (Najuch) and late John Raczka and dear brother of the late Rose Mary Yager and brother-in-law of Charles Keith, the late Gary (late Sophie) Keith and late Gerald (late Ruth) Keith.
He was also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Family will be present to gather with friends on Thursday afternoon from 4-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem Road).
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, located at 189 Clark Street, in Buffalo, New York 14212 on Friday morning at 10:30 AM.
Interment will be held privately, at a later date.
