Obituary

The former Kateryna Matwijiw passed away peacefully at Elderwood Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga, New York at the age of 97 with her family at her side. A retired maintenance worker at BlueCross BlueShield in Buffalo, New York, Kateryna, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous hours in her garden tending to her roses, the flower that she loved so much.

She was born in Ukraine on Wednesday, June 1, 1921, to the late Anna and Wasyl Matwijiw.

Kateryna was the beloved wife of the late Mychajlo Petrowycz.

A devoted mother of Eugenia (Peter) Myhalenko.

Loving grandmother of Peter G. (Amy) Myhalenko and Michael A. (Kelly) Myhalenko.

Fond great-grandmother of Peter A. Myhalenko, William R. Myhalenko, Katerine C. Myhalenko, Megan T. Myhalenko and Matthew M. Myhalenko.

The family will be present on Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 4-8 PM at the Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William Street, near Harlem Rd. where Panachyda Service will be held on Thursday at a 7 PM and Friday, October 26, 2018, at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Liturgy at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10 AM.

Interment will follow at St. Matthew's Cemetery, in West Seneca, New York.
