M. Badaszewski
January 2, 1935 – July 29, 2021
With over 20 years of services at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, a retired Registered Nurse in Buffalo New York, Leona M. "Lee" Badaszewski, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 86.
Leona, also known as "Lee" to her Family and Friends, supervised the St. Josaphat Food Pantry for over 15 years. She was a graduate of Villa Maria High School, attended nursing school, and also worked at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing for several years and then continued her Nursing studies at Canisius College, the TB Hospital in Perrysburg, and the Gowanda Psychiatric Center. After the Korean war, she served as a Private Duty Nurse taking care of Diplomatic Personnel in Germany.
For a period of time, she sold real estate for Lorigo real estate, and also took studies along with her husband Robert, while he was studying and training to become a Deacon for the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.
Lee also loved camping with her family to Saranac Lake and traveling thru Europe, and many parts of the United States to visit with her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and even tried Parasailing and traveling in a helicopter through Alaska. Lee always looked forward to her monthly Lunch Group meetings with Her 1954 Classmates. But most of all she will be remembered for her delicious Placek's and Pierogi.
Leona was married for over 65 years to her Best Friend and the Love of Her Life, her beloved husband, Deacon Robert W. Badaszewski.
She was the devoted mother of Michael J. (Mary Margaret) Badaszewski, Paul J. (late Amy) Badaszewski, David J. Badaszewski, Carl J. (Robin Kitson) Badaszewski, and late Robert L. Badaszewski and late Mark W. (Debbie) Badaszewski.
A loving grandmother of Jacob Badaszewski, Charlie(Shauna) Suber, Michael Badaszewski, Patrick (Courtney) Badaszewski, Mary Elizabeth (Justin) Garus, Ashley Badaszewski, Marissa (Fiancé - Cody Hallick) Badaszewski, Matthew (Christina) Oxendine, Kevin (Jennifer) Badaszewski, Joseph (Megan) Badaszewski, Lekota (Fiancé - Dillon Stites) Badaszewski, Ryan Badaszewski and Emily Badaszewski and proud great-grandmother of Matthew Suber, Parker Delaney Badaszewski, Jameson Ford Badaszewski, Alexis Henneberry, Cheyenne Henneberry, Bentley Henneberry, Mya Ree Oxendine, Maverick Badaszewski, Emery Badaszewski.
She was born on Wednesday, January 2nd, 1935 the cherished daughter of the late Sophia (nee Zima) Ratynski and the late Leo Ratynski.
The dearest sister of Patricia (Matt) Szudzik and late Theresa Rose (late Donald) Pajek and also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
On Sunday, August 1, 2021, the family will be present to receive family and friends from 2-6 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William Street (near Harlem.)
Relatives and friends are also invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josaphat Parish, located at the corner of William at Peoria Avenue on Monday at 9 AM.
Inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Cheektowaga, New York, will take place at a later date.
