Leonard Joseph Marciniak, lived a full and meaningful life. Born on Sunday, April 14, 1929, in Buffalo, New York, to Katherine (nee Firmanty) and Josef Marciniak. He peacefully was called home on Saturday, December 13, 2025 and was reunited with his parents Katherine and Josef and seven siblings.
He was a devoted family man and proud veteran, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories. Leonard lived a life marked by dedication to his country and unwavering commitment to his family. He was a very generous and kind man who would do anything for anyone.
In his younger years he was an avid bowler, Leonard served with honor as a Parachute Rigger at the Niagara Falls Air Force Base, dedicating his life and honorably serving in the United States Military for 37 years. He enlisted when he was 17 years old into the Army and then transferred into the Air Force. He proudly served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His service was a source of great pride, reflecting his strong sense of duty and patriotism. He was a Past President of Leonard Post 6251 and dedicated 35 years as the President of Erie County Commander.
At the heart of Leonard's life was his family. On Saturday, October 6, 1956 he married the love of his life Patricia (nee Delehanty) Marciniak, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
Leonard was a devoted father to his children: Paul Marciniak, Carol (late Mark) Jones, Sharon (Doug) Horning, Pamela (Jeff) Spring, Janet (Joseph) Korniczky, and the late Patrick (Sharon Austin) Marciniak and the late Christine (late Sherwood) Root. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, and his guidance and love shaped the lives of his children in countless ways.
Leonard's joy multiplied as he became a loving grandfather to Sarah (Scott) Shelters, Sean Marciniak, Scott Marciniak, Jacob Marciniak, Randy Austin, Andy Austin, Randy (Sarah) Marciniak, Lisa (Michael) Pearison, Nicholas (Jennifer) Jones, Hiedi Jones, Matthew (Kari) Root, Douglas (Cara) Babicz, Amanda (Shane) Gardner, Andrew Spring, Kyle Dominiak, and the late Abigail Spring. He was also a fond great-grandfather to twelve, whose lives he touched with his warmth and wisdom.
Leonard is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will remember him for his kindness, strength, and the love he generously shared.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, December 16th, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William Street (near Harlem Road), where a funeral service will be held at 1 PM.
Flowers gratefully declined.
