LEONARD "Lenny" PAUL ALLEN of Cheektowaga, New York, passed away peacefully, on December 6th, at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 95.
He was the beloved husband of late Helen (nee Drozdowski), who predeceased him on December, 30th, 2009.
Leonard was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his three children, Lawrence (Katie) Allen, Robert Allen, Paul (Donna) Allen and grandchildren Gregory Allen, Christina Allen and Darcy Allen and an extended family of friends that he touched.
Growing up in Buffalo, New York, Leonard graduated from East High School in 1939. After high school, he worked at Houdaille Industries as a Tool Maker Apprentice, before enlisting in the Army in December, 1942 serving with the 8th Airborne Squadron at various airfields in China, as part of the China-Burma-India (CBI) Campaign.
After the war, Leonard returned to Buffalo, married Helen in 1948 and continued his career at Houdaille for the next 44 years. He and Helen did everything together and were happily married for 61 years.
In his retirement, Leonard enjoyed his daily walks, Tai Chi classes and was an avid reader of anything related to health and fitness.
Family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the PIETSZ
AK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William Street (near Harlem).
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Help of Christians Church Chapel, located at 4125 Union Road, in Cheektowaga, New York 14225 on Saturday at 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers. the family prefers that donations in Leonard's memory be made to Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 10570 Bergtold Road, Clarence, New York 14031.
