It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael P. Sonnenfeld, who departed this life on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on Wednesday, March 17, 1954 in Buffalo, New York to Teresa R. (nee Monczynski) and Gerard Sonnenfeld. Mike lived a life defined by unwavering devotion, quiet strength, and boundless love for his cherished family.
A beloved husband, devoted father, and loving grandfather, Michael's greatest joy and legacy were found in the heart of his family. He was the beloved husband of Shelley (nee Cieslak), sharing a lifetime of companionship, support, and enduring love. Their partnership was a beautiful testament to commitment and shared happiness.
Michael was the proud and devoted father of Michael G. (Lori) Sonnenfeld and Julie (Jordan) McGuire, instilling in them values of kindness, perseverance, and family loyalty. His guidance and love shaped their lives, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments. He was also a doting and loving grandfather to Carter, Chase, Emery, Maverick, and Ty, who brought immeasurable light and laughter into his later years. His grandchildren will forever cherish memories of his warmth and affection.
Mike dedicated many years of his professional life as a diligent factory worker at Derrick Corporation in Cheektowaga, NY, providing steadfastly for his family with his hard work and dedication.
He was a loving brother to Kathleen (William) Muhlenbeck and Patrick (Valerie) Sonnenfeld. He now joins his late sister, Faith (late Michael) Czapla, in eternal rest. Michael's presence will be deeply missed by his siblings, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who were touched by his kind and steadfast spirit.
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josaphat Parish (corner of William Street and Peoria Street) on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 10 AM. Please assemble at the Church.
Michael's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit deeply cherished.
