Shamrock
July 3, 1925 – February 25, 2016
Morris Shamrock, passed away on February 25, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Tx. at the age of 90. He was born July 3, 1925 in Buffalo, NY to Morris and Ella Mae Shamrock.
He grew up in Buffalo, NY and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October of 1943 where he achieved the rank of Chief Gunner's Mate, and served admirably in WWII and the Korean war. He retired from USN and the USS Missouri after 20 years of service. He worked at Penn Central Railroad as a police officer and then for the Erie County Sheriff's Department before working for the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority. He retired from the city and police work on April 23, 1988.
His hobbies included woodworking, CB/Ham radios, Morse code, auto repair, sewing, and writing. He was a lifelong learner, and even picked up computer skills in his later years.
He was the loving companion for 30 years of the late Sharon K. Kaylor; dearest father of John (Laura) Shamrock and Kellyann Shamrock; loving grandfather of Kimberly and great-grandfather of Levi. The dear brother of Joan (late Larry) Ventola and the late Jack (Josephine) Shamrock and late Daniel Shamrock and also survived by nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a burial with Military Honors at Forest Lawn Cemetery (Delaware Ave. Gate) Friday, August 12 at 12:45 PM.
