IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Odetta M.
Fischer
April 8, 1928 – September 11, 2015
The former Odetta M. Biagi, a long time volunteer of the Lovejoy Parish Outreach and Food Pantry, passed away peacefully in her Cheektowaga home, at the age of 87. In her earlier years she was a Cook at Coppola's Restaurant, that was located at the intersection of William and North Ogden Streets, in Buffalo, NY.
Odetta was the daughter of Cesira Pucetti and Pietro Biagi and born in Pietrasanta, Italy, where she met the love of her life at a WWII USO dance, American GI Army Corporal Richard I. Fischer. A whirlwind romance commenced and the couple married in August of 1946 in La Chiesa di San Antonio, Pietrasanta, Italy.
After being placed on inactive duty they traveled to Richard's hometown of Buffalo, New York to begin their family.
Odetta was the devoted mother of Harold (Diane) Fischer, Elizabeth (late Raymond) Sauers, Margaret (late William) Priester, Odetta Klopfer, Mary Ellen (David) Sestokas, Richard Fischer, Jr., Eugene Fischer and the late Michael Fischer, Sr.
She was the grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Her brother Primo and sisters Renata, Pasquina, Maria, Elizabetta, Rita and Anna, survive her and are all of Italy.
Odetta's loving husband Richard, predeceased her in November of 1994.
She was also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Over the years, Odetta lovingly volunteered her services at church fundraisers and social events in her home parish of St. Agnes Church. And she will forever affectionately be known for her famous Cinnamon Rolls and homemade Pastas, sharing her culinary delights with her family, neighbors and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at the Parish Community of St. Katharine Drexel located at 135 N. Ogden St., Buffalo, NY 14206 on Monday (9/14/2015) at 11:30 AM.
(There will be no prior visitation.)
Burial will follow at St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca, New York.
