A retired Truck Driver and Transportation Specialist, Paul Rushok, passed away at the Batavia VA Medical Center, in Batavia, New York, at the age of 80. Paul's career began in the US Army in 1958, where he served as a Light Vehicle Driver at HQ Co of the 1ARB 51st Infantry at Fort Hood, Texas. In 1965 he reenlisted into the US Air Force and served with the 3201 Transportation Squadron as a Dispatcher at, Eglin Air Force Base, in Florida, till August of 1968. While there he was awarded a Plaque for Airman of the Month, which he was very proud of.
After his service with the Government, he continued in the Transportation Industry, working at Land O'Lakes, then Malecki Meats, for almost 20 years, transferring to Allentown Industries and then retiring from Wardenski Meats.
Over the years he collected Model Trains and Planes, attended Model Train and Vintage Plane Shows, joined many a Train and Plane watching groups and making many friends with other Train and Plane enthusiasts, as well as being able to experience many of these passions with his grandchildren, who used to accompany him on many of his excursions throughout the Western New York Area. Paul also dabbled in photos and received an award for one of his pictures of the Central Terminal, from the Iron Island Society, which he would always be proud to point out to you when you visited his home.
Paul was married to his best friend, and the love of his life, his beloved wife Rose Mary (nee Mazurek) Rushok.
He was the devoted father of Pamela (Eric) Sutherland, Paul E. (Lori Kritz) Rushok, Lisa (Patrick) Chiari, and Chrissy (Jason Lipinski) Rushok and loving grandfather of Mitchell Rushok, Hannah Rushok, Madalyn Chiari, Jack Sutherland, Grace Chiari, Keith Sutherland, and Cassandra Lipinski.
The cherished son of late Barbara (nee Olander) Rushok and the late John Rushok and dearest brother of Frederick (Donna) Rushok and the late Dorothy (late Stanley) Nowakowski, late Agnes (late Joseph) Pomietlasz, late Barbara (late Joseph) Toth, late John (late Dorothy) Rushok, late Thomas (late Norma) Rushok and late Peter (late Donna) Rushok.
He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will be present on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem) where services will be held on Wednesday 9:15 AM and at St. Bernard Parish at 10 AM.
Burial with Military Honors will follow his Church services at St. Matthew's Cemetery, in West Seneca, New York.
