IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond F.
Palmowski, Jr.
November 20, 1951 – November 8, 2020
Raymond Palmowski Jr., age 68, passed away at his home on November 8, 2020, in Orchard Park, NY. As the eldest of five brothers, born November 20, 1951, in Buffalo, NY, Ray set the example starting at a young age, notably serving as a Courier Express paperboy. Between the ages of 12 and 17, Ray could be counted on, regardless of sun, rain, or snow, for timely delivery of the daily paper on his neighborhood route, his brothers soon to follow suit. Since that time, there has not been a day that has gone by where he hasn't read the newspaper from front to back, his love for knowledge later proving to be a valuable asset in his professional vocation. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Canisius College in 1973, he went on to pursue a successful 38-year long career working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he was revered as a humble, down to earth and dedicated agent. Accompanied with being an avid reader and music aficionado, he was a devoted Catholic and an advocate of education. He spent many years volunteering his time in schools teaching young people how to better succeed and prepare for their futures.
Ray was a caring son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, always treasuring and grateful for the time he spent with the people he loved. Those lucky enough to fit into one of those categories could rarely if ever, make it out of any conversation without hearing affirmations of love, where the meaning could be felt and not just heard, such as, "best brother going" or "remember, nobody loves you more". He had a gregarious personality and always managed to make people laugh, whether that was due to his quick wit or his beloved character traits. His profound love for family and friends was only ever shaken by his superlative attachment to his camera and his insistent desire to capture beautiful moments on film. An outcome of which created memories that will be cherished and captured forever, such as slide shows on Christmas Eve at Nana's house.
Ray lived his values and did it without question, this went for his beliefs too. He was a man of unshakable conviction, integrity, and intelligence, who tangibly lived his life knowing the wisest thing you can do is to be and live in the present. His actions spoke to his character, taking pride in everything he did. Ray lived an exemplary life, from dutifully fulfilling his role as Godfather to his dearly loved nieces and nephews, to his immaculately spotless home and pristine manicured lawn, often contemplating choices between things like a boulder or a new Norway Spruce, right down to his unprecedented and unforgettable dance moves. He never missed a birthday, or a chance to share record-breaking weather with photographic evidence, or a cooked meal and most notably, he never missed the opportunity to say a prayer, dedicate a mass or be there for someone in need.
Raymond was the beloved son of the late Natalie R. (nee Szczukowski) Palmowski and the late Raymond F. Palmowski, Sr. He was the devoted brother of Ronald S. (Christine) Palmowski, Mark L. (late Dianne) Palmowski, Gary M. (Joyce) Palmowski and the late Brian J. Palmowski and cherished uncle of Brenda Palmer, Jeffrey Palmowski, Lindsay Palmowski, Craig Palmowski, David Palmowski, Carol Benshing and great uncle of Genna Pieri and dear friend of Emilia Rutigliano and was also survived by aunts and cousins.
All whom loved and knew Ray will never forget his patriotism, generous heart, devotion to God, love for his family and friends, and adoration for Watson's Chocolates. Ray, may you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you. May holy Mary, the angels, and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone from this life. May you forever rest in peace.
