Obituary

Pastor Emeritus of St. John Kanty Parish, Former Parish Administrator of Transfiguration R.C. Church and Pastor of Holy Apostles SS. Peter & Paul R.C. Church, all of Buffalo, New York, Rev. Ronald A. Bagienski, while serving as chaplain on the Holland America Cruise ship Zaandam, suddenly took ill and was transferred to the Clinica Del INCA, Intensive Care Unit, in Miraflores, Lima, Peru, where he passed away, at the age of 75.

He was ordained by  Bishop Bernard McLaughlin on May 24, 1969, at St. Joseph New Cathedral, in Buffalo, New York.

Fr. Ron, was the devoted son of the late Stella (nee Lewandowski) and late Stanley Bagienski and beloved brother of Monica (Randal) Golden, of Naples, Florida and loving uncle of Sloan (Daniel) Blair, of Naples, Florida. He was also survived by his longtime friends, Thomas R. Boeck, and George R. Palz.

Family and friends will be present for visitation on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 3-7 PM at the Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William Street (near Harlem).

Rev. Bagienski will lie in state on Wednesday from 9 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent Chapel (600 Doat St.) where a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial, will follow at 10 AM. Most Rev. Edward M. Grosz, DD, VG, Auxiliary Bishop of Buffalo, will be the principal celebrant.

Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Cheektowaga, New York.

As per Father Bagienski's wishes, Flowers are gratefully declined and Memorials in the form of Mass offerings are preferred.

Father Ron was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Justin Council #5670  and former President of the Association of Priests for Polish Affairs.
