IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila Joy
Barr
May 12, 1952 – March 3, 2024
Sheila Joy Barr was born May 12, 1952, in Oceanside, California.
Daughter of the late Albert Wagner and late Sally Mangus. Sheila is survived by her loving husband Robert Barr, 2 sons, Tristan (Nicole) Barr and Colin Barr (Molly Bartz), and precious granddaughters Eyla and Iris Barr. Sheila is also survived by her sisters Sonja McAllister and Sandra (Richard) Florkowski; nephews and nieces John Stevens, Mary Stevens, Kelly Stevens, Emily Hannon and Justin McAllister and several cousins.
Sheila attended Delhi University where she received an Associate's degree in Veterinarian Science Technology and later received a Bachelor's degree at Medaille University.
Sheila was the heart of her family. She brought everyone together with large holiday celebrations and summer parties and was an amazing cook! Sheila cared for the sick (both human and animal) and advocated for disabled children and their parents, working as a Veterinarian Technician for over 40 years eventually becoming an administrator at the Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center before she retired.
Sheila and her friend Brenda Shephard co-founded Western New York Family Advocacy for Children's Educational Services, Inc. (FACES) in 1998. Together they assisted families regarding the educational, medical, and emotional needs of their disabled children. They provided help to hundreds of children over the years through 2 generations.
Her Daughter-in-law Nicole, who she called her "angel", shared a special bond with and cared for her during her last months of life. Sheila dearly loved her Granddaughters who called her Grammy, they loved her chicken soup!
Services will be held at a later date.
The family appreciates your prayers and concerns and would like to thank you for your support.
