Obituary

Sister Aileen Marie Wroblewski, 92, a Felician Sister for 73 years, died in Blessed Mary Angela Care Center, Cheektowaga, NY, on Sunday, October 10, 2021.  The former Aileen Wroblewski was born to the late Frank and Mary (Borowiak) Wroblewski on July 13, 1929, in Buffalo, New York.   She was a member of St. Adalbert Parish in Buffalo.  She entered the Buffalo Province of the Felician Sisters on January 31, 1948, and professed perpetual vows on August 13, 1955.  She held a Bachelor of Science in Education from Medaille (Mount St. Joseph Teachers) College of Buffalo, a Master of Science degree from Canisius College, Buffalo, New York.

As a Felician Sister, Sister Aileen Marie was m ainly involved in the field of e ducation. She began her ministry as an elementary school teacher at St. Stanislaus School in Buffalo, NY.  She continued to teach at this level  at many schools in the Diocese of Buf f alo. She was a very competent and devoted teacher.  She also served as principal at Resurrection School in Cheektowaga, St. Edmund School in Tonawanda, Transfiguration School in Buffalo and St. Mary of the Angels in Olean.

Sister Aileen Marie also taught at the secondary level as her special talent in Mathema tics surfaced.  She taught at Bishop Gibbons High School in North Tonawanda, Bishop Colton High School in Buffalo , Villa Maria Academy and Baker-Victo ry High School in Buffalo, and St. Francis High School in Athol Springs.  S he served as principal at Bishop Colton in Buffalo and Sacred Heart High School in Syracuse, NY. At Cardinal O'Hara she was a ssistant p rincipal and at Baker-Victory, the a ssociate p rincipal. Although h er longest teaching experience was at the secondary level , h er teaching skills extended to Villa Maria College of Buffalo where she became a part-time Math i nstructor.

As a Felician Sister, c om munity life was very important to Sister Aileen Marie . In addition to performing her ministerial responsibilities, she served in local leadership for many years. In the early 70s, she conducted 25 workshops for the Felician Sisters on " Local Community Living , " 22 of which were within provincial limits a nd 3 beyond. In 2000, she served as chauffe u r at the provincial house and assisted in auxiliary services.  She joined the Blessed Mary Angela Co nvent in 2010 to help the aged and infirm sisters .

A respon sibility which she assumed and cherished since 1999 was scheduling daily Masses for the sisters of Immacula te Heart of Mary Convent. She considered it a privilege to perform this service in whi ch she was invol ved until her death.  When asked to write a personal article about herself in a community publication at the time of her 70 th Jubilee, she presented, "For all that has been THANKS; For all that will be YES." This summarizes her life stance.

Sister Aileen was the loving sister of the late Theresa Wroblewski, late Rev. Joseph Wroblewski and late Richard Wroblewski.

Felician Sisters and family will be present at the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Villa Maria) Convent, 600 Doat Street, on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 3-5 PM.  An evening Prayer Service will begin at 5 PM in the Convent Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 10 AM in the convent chapel.

Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, in Cheektowaga, New York.
