The former Sophie Pasierb was born on January 1, 1932, in Tarnopol, Poland. As a refugee, she spent time in Pakistan, Iran and Mexico. She eventually came to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Home for Children, Cheektowaga, NY, from where she entered the Buffalo Province of the Felician Sisters on January 25, 1948. She became an American citizen on June 11, 1953 and professed perpetual vows on August 13, 1955. After graduating from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy, Buffalo, NY, she furthered her education at Villa Maria College of Buffalo with an Associate in Arts Degree and at State University of New York College at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.
Initially, Sister Pauline began her ministry assisting at St. Rita's Home for Children in Getzville, NY. She also served at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Home for Children. In 1959, she began her teaching ministry at St. Hyacinth School, Dunkirk, NY. She taught students at the primary level in the Buffalo Catholic Schools for sixteen years. She enjoyed teaching and worked well with individual students.
In 1982, Sister Pauline began assisting in the laundry at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Provincial House in Buffalo for five years. She assisted in other internal services for a short time and returned to the laundry as supervisor for fourteen years until 1996. She then contributed her services as an aide, sacristan and in other capacities at St. Francis Residence, the Provincial House and the Felician Sisters Health and Wellness Center now known as the Blessed Mary Angela Care Center. From 1999 to 2001, she was involved in Parish Ministry at St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Akron, NY.
Sister Pauline was always eager to help the sisters wherever she lived and worked. Because of declining health, she became a patient in the Blessed Mary Angela Care Center in August, 2012.
