Sister Mary Rosette Kubisty, CSSF, Community Leader and Educator
Sister Mary Rosette, 94, a Felician Sister for 76 years, died in the Blessed Mary Angela Care Center, on September 2, 2014.  The former Elizabeth Kubisty was born on July 21, 1920, in Buffalo, NY.   She was a member of Transfiguration Parish in Buffalo, NY.  She entered the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province of the Felician Sisters in Buffalo, NY, on July 8, 1938, and professed perpetual vows on August 12, 1946.  She graduated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy in Buffalo and furthered her education at The Canisius College of Buffalo where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

Sister Rosette began her ministry as a fifth grade teacher at Queen of all Saints School in Lackawanna, NY.  She continued teaching in Catholic elementary schools within the Diocese of Buffalo for many years.  She also spent two years teaching at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Syracuse, NY.  At St. Teresa of Avila School in Akron, NY, and St. Josaphat School in Cheektowaga, NY, Sister Rosette served as principal.  Her caring manner was effective in motivating the students to achieve to the best of their ability.

In 1976, Sister Rosette was elected to provincial leadership in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province serving specifically as Director of Ministry.  This position gave her the opportunity to assist community members in their educational endeavors as well as in serving in their various educational capacities.  Six years later, in 1982, she was elected to leadership of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice as a General Councilor.  During the following six years she resided at Our Lady Mediatrix of Graces Generalate in Rome, Italy, and was responsible for overseeing the formative programs within the entire Congregation.  She accepted her final leadership position in 1989, when she served the sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province as provincial minister for six years.  Her love for her sisters motivated her to do her best in all her ministries.

Since 1995, Sister Rosette has continued to be very active.  She was a school aide at Villa Maria Academy in Buffalo for a year.  As a resident at St. Michael Convent in Lackawanna, NY, she was a clerical aide at Father Justin's Rosary Hour in Athol Springs, NY, for five years and then became the sacristan at St. Michael Parish, now known as Queen of Angels Parish in Lackawanna, NY.  Because of failing health, she became a patient in Blessed Mary Angela Care Center on June 25, 2009.  During her stay at the Care Center, Sister Rosette graciously assisted the staff in the Communications Office in various ways until the sudden end of her earthly journey.  The loss of her presence among the sisters will be deeply felt.
