Bernys
February 26, 1920 – December 13, 2016
Stanley J. Bernys, a US Army WW II veteran, who served from March 1943 till December of 1945, passed away peacefully, at Garden Gate Nursing Facility, in Cheektowaga, New York, at the age of 96. Throughout his life time he worked for Allied Mills, Westinghouse and retired from Birdair, Inc. where he assisted in the manufacturing of several Tension Membrane Structures and Fabric Roofing.
He also held Life Membership, in the former SS. Peter & Paul Athletic Club, Inc, of Buffalo, New York, where he was a member and volunteer for well over 50 years, holding several positions at the Club, most notably being a Bar Steward for most of those years and proud of the fact that he never had a drink, in all those years. In his later years, Stanley also held the position of Chief Supply and Maintenance Engineer, at his Son's business, "Major Cool Off" located on Dingens St, in Buffalo, New York.
He was survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Virginia (nee Kubiczek) Bernys. The devoted father of Stanley J. (Barbara) Bernys, Ronald (Susan) Bernys and Janice (Edward) Kuczmarski.
The beloved grandfather of Daryl (Julie) Bernys, Todd (Minser) Bernys, Ronald (Theresa) Bernys, Brian (Kathy) Bernys, Adam (Valerie) Bernys, Holly Bernys, Andrew (Theresa) Kuczmarski and Brandon Kuczmarski and fond great grandfather of Jett, Skyla, Alexis, Ethan, Caitlyn, Noah, Leah, Lucy, Brian and Samson.
He was predeceased by his sister, the late Josephine (late Stanley) Kubiczek and brother, the late Valentine (late Viola) Bernys.
Family will be present on Friday, from 3 to 8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William Street (near Harlem.)
Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, located at 2158 Clinton Street, in Cheektowaga, New York, on Saturday morning at 10 AM.
Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Cheektowaga, New York.
