Obituary

Terrence R. Pierson "Yogi", age 72, a proud United States Army veteran, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Born on February 21, 1954, Terrence dedicated his life in service to others—first in the U.S. Army, where he served his country with honor and discipline, and later in his hometown of Cheektowaga, New York, where he worked as a paver for the Town's Highway Department. For years, residents traveled streets that Terrence helped build and maintain with skill, pride, and a strong work ethic. He was a familiar and respected face in the community, known for his dependability and quiet commitment to getting the job done right.

Above all else, Yogi was a family man. He is survived by his loving fiancée, Cathy Szatkowski, whose partnership brought him immense happiness. He was the devoted father of Michelle Gulczewski and was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Pierson, and his cherished grandson, Jacob Pierson — whom he now joins in eternal peace.

Yogi was the proud and loving grandfather of Jessica Pierson, Joshua Pierson, Ashley Gulczewski, Jordan Gross, Luke Gulczewski, Jenna Pierson, and Olivia Gulczewski. He beamed with pride at every milestone, every laugh, and every moment shared with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His legacy of strength, kindness, and love will live on in each of them.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember his warm heart, his steady presence, and the stories he told of a life well-lived.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20th from 2–4 PM and 6–8 PM at the Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William Street, near Harlem Road.

Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josaphat Parish, corner of William at Peoria Sts. on Tuesday morning at 10 AM. Please assemble at the church.

In celebrating Terrence's life, we remember his spirit of compassion and service, which will forever resonate in our hearts. We invite you to honor his memory by sharing a picture in our online Photo Album or a favorite memory in our Guest Book on the Tribute page.
