Thaddeus Mankiewicz, Jr. a retired Purchasing Agent for Roberts Gordon, Inc. of Buffalo, New York, passed away peacefully at Elderwood at Lancaster, in Lancaster, New York, at the age of 89.
A former Seaman First Class in the Navy during WWII, Ted completed his tour of duty in March of 1944 on the U.S.S. Pasadena and was a recipient of the American Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with 2 Stars, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Victory Medal.
After he returned from war, he married the love of his life and dancing partner, his beloved wife Theresa (nee Stefaniak) Mankiewicz.
He was the devoted father of Linda (David) Smolinski and the late Karen Ann Stone.
A loving grandfather of Brian (Kimberly) Smolinski, Nicole (Brian) Rick, Ashley (Michael) Johnston and Dillon Stone and fond great grandfather of Anthony, Kaitlyn, Jackson, Madison and Carson and also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to gather with the family for a Celebration of Thaddeus's Life at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William (near Harlem) on Wednesday evening from 4-8 PM.
Relatives and friends are also invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel Church, located at 5271 Clinton Street, Elma, New York 14059 on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM.
