A Korean War Army Veteran and an Engineer with the Norfolk and Southern Railroad before his retirement.

William was the beloved husband of Joan (nee Brodfuehrer.)

The devoted father of Diane (David) Weber, Bill (Maureen) Ernest, Michael (Deborah) Ernest, Pat (George) Captain, Robert Ernest and Lisa (Kurt) Guinther.

A loving grandfather of Amy and Mark Weber, Kristy, Amanda and Jillian Ernest, Jennifer (Garry) Weiss, Michael Ernest Jr. and Matthew and Megan Captain; and the fond great-grandfather of eleven;

Dearest brother of Joan (late John) D'Angelo, Betty (Jerry) Blaszak and Marylou (Joseph) Mikolajczak;  brother-in-law of Carol (Jack) Gifford and Shirley (late Chuck) Glass and also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be present Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. (near Harlem.)

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clare Parish (193 Elk St, Buffalo, NY 14210) Friday at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Hospice Buffalo, Inc, 225 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, New York 14227.
