Our History

The Legacy of Pietszak Funeral Home began in 1912 with Mr. Peter Pietszak, who laid the foundation for a tradition rooted deeply in family values and community service. In the 1940s, his son Paul and daughter Wilhelmina transformed the small candy store at 806 Clinton Street into a welcoming funeral home—one that continues to serve families with compassion and dignity to this very day.

In 1983, Michael A. Klimeczko, a 1976 graduate of the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, joined with Mrs. Pietszak in her mission to care for the community. He purchased the funeral home, continuing the legacy with the same dedication and respect it was built upon. Michael and his wife Susan married in 1984 and raised their two daughters, Wilhelmina and Janine, within the very heart of the family business. Growing up in the funeral home, the girls were immersed in its daily rhythm—helping with small tasks, greeting families, and learning firsthand the importance of compassion, service, and community support.

On November 9, 1995 Michael joined in a partnership with Norbert Orlowski and purchased the former Siupa Furniture Store, where they built what would become the Orlowski-Pietszak Funeral Home. Together with their families, they opened the doors of the new location on March 23, 1997, extending their commitment to the Cheektowaga Community at 2400 William Street. When Mr. Orlowski retired in February 2005, the Klimeczko Family became the sole owners, officially opening a branch of Pietszak Funeral Home at the same site.

That same year, Michael’s oldest daughter, Wilhelmina, proudly followed in her Father’s footsteps, graduating from SUNY Canton’s Mortuary Science Program and becoming a licensed Funeral Director. In 2009, his youngest daughter Janine did the same, earning her license after graduating from SUNY Canton as well. Having grown up surrounded by the values of empathy and service, both daughters stepped into the family business with dedication, continuing the long-standing tradition of helping families in their times of need.

In 2023, the Orlowski-Pietszak Funeral Home was officially merged under the unified name of Pietszak Funeral Home—bringing together generations of service, commitment, and family legacy. The Pietszak Funeral Home remains honored to support their community, just as they have for more than a century.
